What was the economical and social role of bosses, later becomming managers, in France during the last century?

From industrial revolution period until today, the film questiones more than 150 years history of the management evolution. Looking after their own interests in the economical enviroment constantly changing, the «bosses » have always lacked for « being the masters of their own bussines ». But their aspirations for liberty defeates the ones of the workers and the State.
